The Heart & Mind Festival, Golden Drum, and MAISC, Inc. invite you to join us in sacred prayer during a special series of events in conjunction with Climate Week NYC and the United Nations General Assembly. These events aim to amplify the mission of Climate Week to drive climate action, fast. Our events will include prayers for the Earth and supporting the protection of the vision, voices, actions, and sacred practices of Indigenous leaders and nations worldwide.
Join Zezinho Yube & Luciana Txira for a hapé ceremony at Golden Drum. In addition to sharing hapé, an ancient medicinal plant blend from the Amazon, Yube will share traditional music and knowledge.
More about hapé (pronounced “ha-peh”): Hapé is a powerful, cleansing snuff used as part of important medicinal rituals by the native people of the Amazon Rainforest. This medicinal mix of tobacco, herbs and ashes helps focus and sharpen the mind, and can act as a clearing agent for distracting energies in preparation for intention setting. Hapé clears sinuses of mucus and bacteria, thereby helping to combat colds and respiratory ailments. It provides a calming, grounding effect on the emotions that last much longer than the initial sensation.
$40 suggested donation, no one turned away for lack of funds. Contact us for assistance.
*Note: participants will be required to sign a waiver in order to participate in this ceremony
