Tipi Vigil in Stuyvesant Cove Park

  • Stuyvesant Cove Park 24-20 Fdr Drive Service Road East New York, NY, 10010 United States (map)

Nathan Phillips (Omaha), executive director of the Native Youth Alliance is putting out a call to prayer! Join us to put up a Tipi in Stuyvesant Cove Park (Manhattan) on Thursday morning (Sep 26th) at 8am. Visit anytime between sunrise and sunset. Bring your good energy, come be with us and share this space and time, with a respectful mind, heart and spirit. We want NYC to last, we want the earth to last. It’s time to return to the original instructions, and so we're holding space for the next generation.

At 7pm there will be a special prayer hosted by Heart & Mind Festival, Golden Drum, and MAISC Inc., in partnership with Solar One. This transformative ceremony, led by Nana Marina Cruz, aims to unite us as we honor and pray for the protection of the vision, voices, actions, and sacred practices of indigenous leaders and nations worldwide. She will be joined by special guests Nathan Phillips of the Omaha Nation (USA), Gloria Ushigua of the Sapara Nation (Ecuador), and Zezinho Yube of the Huni Kuin Nation (Brazil).

Directions to Stuyvesant Cove Park: Enter at the 20th St and Ave C entrance. You can drop this pin, and walk towards the water. Note: if you put in "Stuyvesant Cove Park" to GPS you'll get to a construction site.

*Note: this is a drug and alcohol-free outdoor evening event. Please bring warm clothing!
