The Anthropocentric West: A Lakota Perspective

  • Golden Drum 97 Green Street Brooklyn, NY, 11222 United States (map)

We are honored to be hosting an evening concert of cedar flute and spoken word with Tiokasin Ghosthorse, a member of the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation of South Dakota. He has been a major figure in preserving and reviving the cedar wood flute tradition as well as combining music with “spoken word”.  Tiokasin is an international speaker for Peace and Mother Earth, as well as a long time contributor to Indigenous  activism and advocacy.  In 2013, he was awarded The Peacemaker Award of Staten Island.   His words of Indigenous insight and global concern are offered through the experience of "one Lakota living in one world".
