Feeling stressed? Have you become too serious? Can you count on one finger the amount of times you laugh in one day? Is Grumpy Bear lurking in your shadow? Or are you overflowing with joy? Then come to the Laughter Yoga Club the last Tuesday of every month at 8 p.m! While the club is free, there is a $5 per person suggested contribution solely for rental costs.
Laughter Yoga is a global movement for health, happiness and world peace. A series of easy and fun yogic exercises are done with the express purpose of inducing laughter. Laughter, combined with clapping and gentle breathing techniques, oxygenates the body to reduce stress and induce a cheerful mood.
Dr. Kataria, the pioneer of the Laughter Yoga movement, discovered that linking the mind-body-soul together in an integrated manner through yogic breathing and other yogic exercises could heal the souls of the people he laughed with. Laughter Yoga improves the immune system and can repair ailments like depression, allergies, asthma, backaches, hypertension, lethargy, migraines and menstrual disorders.
It is a good idea to consult a medical practitioner if you have: extremely high blood pressure; heart disease or a history of heart attacks; hernia of any kind; advanced piles (hemorrhoids); recent major surgery of any kind; uterovaginal prolapse; advanced pregnancy; glaucoma or eye disorders pertaining to bleeding. Children are welcome. Participants can sit or stand.
